But growing demand from high-income city dwellers or from tourists may assist the growth of a range of high-value food crops that present more scope for many local farms and may have priceless multiplier links throughout the local economic system. This contains more scope for city and peri-urban agriculture (see §4c). Forestry strategies to attain this vision embrace forestry, enterprise development, aimed at creating alternatives for people to use forests including indigenous forests, woodlands and plantations, and forest-based sources for economic growth, income-generation and job creation.
